CORONER, ATROPHY, FORCED ENTRY – Foufounes Electriques, Montreal

Considering that their album ‘Uncertain Future’ is unavailable anywhere outside the US, Montreal’s small but enthusiastic band of Thrashers gave Forced Entry a surprisingly warm welcome. For such a low profile act, the Seattle trio have a remarkably impressive stage act – a blur of limbs and hair from start to finish.

Sadly though they showed a typically blinkered American view on world issues (bassist/vocalist Tony Benjamins introducing one song as ‘A celebration of the death of Ayatollah Khomeini) and were less than impressive to listen to as well – all to often their music struggled unsuccessfully to wrestle free from a Speed-for-Speed-sake mentality.
